Parky Junior Bowls League

Today, our Parky Junior Bowls Co-ordinator, Cory Daley, had the opportunity to take on World No. 1 Corey Wedlock in the knockout rounds of the Australian Open Singles on the Gold Coast.

The two share a long history, having played against each other many years ago when Corey was an emerging junior talent on the Mid North Coast. It’s been incredible to watch his journey from those early days as a promising local junior to now being the world’s top-ranked player.

In a high-quality contest, Corey Wedlock prevailed 21-12 to advance to Round 4, continuing his pursuit of the Australian Open Singles title.

Good luck tomorrow, Corey! The Mid North Coast is proud to be following your journey. 👏🏆💪

A fantastic achievement for former Bellingen High student Corey Wedlock, who has officially reached the World No. 1 ranking in lawn bowls.

Corey started playing bowls at just 8 years of age, learning and developing his game at local clubs including Urunga Bowling Club and West Coffs Bowling Club. Twenty years later, he now sits at the top of the world rankings — a remarkable journey built on dedication, hard work and a love for the game.

His success is a great reminder to our junior bowlers that big dreams can start on local greens. With commitment and perseverance, incredible opportunities can follow.

Congratulations Corey! You have done the Mid North Coast proud and continue to inspire the next generation of bowlers. 👏🏆🌏

Some top bowls from our Junior bowlers in their first comp!

Three of our local juniors competed in their first club competition on Saturday in the PBBC Tyro Singles Cup, for bowlers with three years' experience or less.

One player reached the semi-finals, narrowly losing a tiebreak to the eventual winner! Congratulations Noah. 👏

Events like these not only provide valuable competition experience but also give young bowlers the chance to learn the game from more experienced players who generously support and mentor throughout the day.

A fantastic example of the pathway opportunities available through lawn bowls. 💙💛
