Kewdale Little Athletics Club

Kewdale Little Athletics Club We welcome all Athletes from the ages of 6 to 17. We compete and train at the Gerry Archer Little Athletics Track in Cloverdale.

The Kewdale Little Athletics Club was one of the founding clubs of the Belmont Little Athletics Centre which was established in 1970. Like all of the original eleven clubs at that time, its member base was derived solely from the students of the local primary school each club was named after. The clubs were Belmay, Belmont, Canning Districts, Carlisle, Cloverdale, High Wycombe, Kewdale, Notre Dame

, Rivervale, Tranby and Whiteside. The official start of Little Athletics in Western Australia was three seasons earlier in February 1968. That first season saw around 200 athletes compete in half a dozen competition days. The following season the numbers grew to around 1000 athletes, and the Western Australia Little Athletics Association was formed shortly after as a number of independant Centres were setup throughout the metropolitan area. The 1970/71 season was the inaugural season for the Belmont Little Athletics Centre and the Kewdale Club. The first official competition was held at Forster Park on Abernethy Road in Cloverdale where it remained until the 1972/73 season. In 1973 the Belmont Centre moved across the road to the Gerry Archer Athletics Track, a dedicated venue which was established to cater for the growing number of athletes taking up the sport. As the athletes were from the local Primary Schools, the only age groups able to compete were the Under 8's to Under 13's. A normal competition day started at 8:45am and finished at 5:00pm each Saturday due to there being nearly 1000 athletes competing with over 200 children being in the Under 8 age group alone. Kewdale's original uniform of a black and white shirt with black shorts was maintained right through from 1970/71 until the 2011/12 season. The current gold and black shirt with black shorts was first trialed in the 2010/11 season and was phased in over the 2011/12 season. The 2012/13 season will be the first where only the new shirt will be recognised as the Kewdale Little Athletics Club's official uniform.

Centre rules governing the mandatory wearing of enclosed footwear and the use of spike shoes must be adhered to at all times. Our uniform policy can be found in our purple book, located on our website.

WE NEED YOUR HELP - Centre Training Proposal

Belmont Athletics Centre are looking to offer Centre Training to our members 1 to 2 days a week to be held at Gerry Archer Athletics Track in the evening under lights (Start time Approx 6.30pm - 8pm.

This will be available to any athletes who are U13 and above.

We are seeking interest from both athletes and coaches with the aim to implement this for the current season. We would love for club coaches to get involved and if our proposal went ahead, we would compile a program of targeted events for each training session.

If this is something you or your athlete(s) would be keen to get off the ground, please complete the following survey so the committee can ascertain if our proposal would be viable.

-Stack Team App
-Facebook
-Website
-Instagram
-Club Managers/Club

Please see previous posts relating to seating, parking, programs etc

SIGNING ON PARENT HELPERS/KEY OFFICIALS

ATHLETE SIGN ON SHEETS
These will be located on the tables outside the clubrooms – all athletes are to tick off their names as they arrive. This will assist in the smooth running of the program, allowing the Arena Manager and the Announcer to adjust events according to the number of athletes present.

CANTEEN
Reminder that the canteen operates every week. There will be a variety of food, drinks, confectionary and icy treats available.
Cash or EFTPOS accepted.

COFFEE VAN
Please see our previous post for menu/prices.

HEAT and HYDRATION
During an Athletics competition, athletes should always be in possession of a hat, wear a shirt to cover their shoulders when not competing, use an effective sunscreen, and frequently drink plenty of fluids in small quantities, preferably water.

REGISTRATION & COMPETING

RESULTS
Results from all events can be obtained by logging into ResultsHQ. Some results will be available on the day; however, some may need reviewing and may not appear straight away. Please be patient and allow a day or 2 before contacting us about missing results. If results are still missing/incorrect by the Tuesday evening after comp, any queries should be directed to your club manager first. If they are unable to assist, they will contact our Belmont Records & Ranking officer on your behalf. Please remember we are all volunteers 🙂

PARKING
Please use common sense when arriving and leaving the carpark each Saturday. The driveway leading into the carpark comes off a main road which is extremely busy at that time of the day. Please refrain from stopping in the middle of the driveway to drop off passengers. Please park before alighting from your vehicle. Remember to drive slowly and with caution as lots of families are making their way to the track.
