As most of you know, my husband was involved in an unfortunate incident during Heat 1 at Tamworth on Saturday night. After a quick inspection of the car back in the pits, it became clear the damage was too severe to repair, meaning his night was unfortunately over before it had really begun.
As devastated as Daniel was about the car, what stood out most to me was his character through it all. At a time where most people would understandably be upset, frustrated or focused only on themselves, Daniel was the complete opposite. He stayed calm, kept his composure and immediately started helping others.
Before even worrying about himself, he was offering parts from his own damaged car to competitors who needed them, just so they could continue racing. That is just who he is. He genuinely wants to see others out there doing what they love too.
This isnโt something he does for recognition, and it certainly isnโt the first time. Anyone who knows Daniel knows he would give you the shirt off his back if it meant helping someone else. Whether itโs lending parts, working on someone elseโs car between his own races, staying back to help in the pits, or dropping everything when somebody needs a hand, he never hesitates.
Speedway is full of competition, but Daniel has always believed the sport is bigger than just one person. He understands that without people helping each other, supporting each other and sticking together, the sport we all love wouldnโt survive.
What makes me even prouder is seeing those same qualities passed down to our children. Every one of them carries the same selflessness, compassion and willingness to help others that Daniel does. Watching them become caring, respectful and supportive young people just like their Dad means more to me than any trophy or race result ever could.
Cars can be rebuilt and replaced, but good character, loyalty, kindness and selflessness are things you canโt teach. I couldnโt be prouder of the man he is, both on and off the track. ๐
