Happy New Years π 2026
In sumo, leadership is not proclaimed through spoken words; it is demonstrated through conduct, discipline, and devotion to the way of sumo. Leadership is not a matter of choice, but a responsibility born through daily training, respect for tradition, and service to the stable.
We stand equal before the dohyo, bound by discipline and humility. No rikishi exists above the dohyo or above others. All stand equal before the sport, united by shared effort and mutual respect. Division born of pride weakens the spirit; unity grounded in humility strengthens both body and character.
The path of sumo is demanding and often solitary. Criticism, misunderstanding, and hardship are accepted as part of oneβs training. Through these trials, a rikishi endures with dignity and supports fellow wrestlers, creating balance, fairness, and harmony within the stable.
Through hardship we endure; through respect we unite. With sincerity of heart and strength of body, we honor the way of sumo together. With reverence for our teachers, respect for our opponents, and loyalty to one another, we step onto the dohyo with sincerity, strength, and heart. In preserving these values, we honor the tradition of sumo and advance together on the true path of the sport.
