Victorian Polocrosse Championships 2026 in Sale this weekend. Casterton represented with 3 teams.

A grade consisted of Ricky Smith GTM up the front, in the 2 shirt was Olivia Berkin and out the back we welcomed back Hamish Carlin. Ricky and Hamish, the dynmaric duo, linking up well and putting the pace on with Olivia in the middle. The rose between the thorns holding up her end of the bargain with some fantastic ball skills and defensive play .

Then Bowes Kelly back up the front, Phoebe Carlin in the middle on her dad’s horse playing strong and a hard number 2, and out the back was Dillan Carlin. Bowes Kelly showing form adding goals on the board for the cats and Dillan playing a tough 3 on big Dan .

Cats A grade played well but were unfortunately beaten in a semi and missed out on the final.

Cats B grade was made up of Brydie Carlin up the front showing her skills throwing goals left, right and the side flicks. Molly Dennis doing a tonne of work in the middle and getting some hard balls with Sarah Carlin out the back once again. The girls had a hard tough competition but held their own with some fantastic passages of play. Second section was Jessica Bowman up the front, Rob Pilmore playing a hard tough comp in the 2 position, and out the back was Holly Wittig.
Cats B won some games but were out scored to make the finals.

Cats D grade was Crocket as a 1 giving it everything throwing some nice goals . Bailey Carlin young gun playing a big horse doing a great job, and out the back was Fiona Wittig showing us how it’s done. Second chukka was Mason Hunter up the front showing us some skills and getting some scores on the board. Hayley Bowman little pocket rocket playing extremely well chasing and getting her own balls and out the back Bec Francis on big Memphis.

Cats D grade made it to the final, but lost to Western Districts, coming runners up in the grade.

What amazing achievement for our players . Hard work pays off

This week at mooroduc Casterton sent a mixed b grade team over the west gate to compete . The team consisted of the carlin girls Phoebe Carlin up the front , Sarah Carlin in the middle and out the back Brydie Carlin . The second chukka being a mens chukka was made up of Ricky Smith up the front , Bailey Carlin in the middle and out the back Rob Pilmore .

Special mention Bailey Carlin our young gun first time playing in the B grade . Bailey held his own getting alot of ball in the middle and feeding ricky smith the ball

The team played two games on Saturday taking out both wins against sale and Ballan. On the the final Sunday morning Casterton vs Ballan. The girls rode out strong keeping the same positions all weekend . Phoebe throwing some goals up the front on chicken fry , Sarah Carlin picking up the scraps in the middle and Brydie playing are hard and solid game in the 3 position.

The men rode out in the final also unchanged with Ricky smith 1 Bailey Carlin on big fast bingo taking woods getting the ball and helping cats stay up on the ladder and Rob Pilmore out the back.

The final come down to a nail bitter . 14 all at the end of the 6th chukka. The girls rode out Brydie Carlin up the front Phoebe Carlin in the two shirt and Sarah Carlin out the back. Brydie Carlin gets the ball out of the line up took it to the area unfortunatel bounce . The 3 brings the ball back out and the defensive work of both Carlin sisters getting the ball back again phoebe passing to brydie and scoring the winning goal . Caserton coming out WINNERS !

We also had the mini juniors with Sophie and Harry smith scoring 10 goals each and Bella Carlin getting two snaps and two goals .

Great weekend away at corio. Casterton had 3 teams playing and two pool players

Starting off with the mini juniors . Casterton minis come out looking snazzy on their ponies . Awards were given for best dressed mini . Great game played by the kids jack and Sam bowman , Harry and Sophie smith , braxton Caulfield and Bella Carlin.

Hayley bowman played in the E grade this weekend in a pool team . Hayley changing up positions going from up the front as a 1 to out the back in the 3 shirt. Hayley’s team lost in the finals but great games all weekend.

D grade Bailey carlin out the front playing his sisters horse skittles . Sarah Sewell in the 2 position coming back after having some time off and playing a young horse and her father steffy out the back coaching and helping. Mason hunter up the front on ginger doing a mountain on work tearing up the goal area getting some points on the board for the cats. Andy Forbes as a 2 and out the back crocket playing well on a new horse . The team played well all weekend but unfortunately lost in the finals against corio

B grade this weekend was Bec Francis up the front playing extremely well and great racket skills all weekend , Jodie jolly in the 2 shirt on old faithful Judith and out the back Phoebe Carlin holding her own great defensive play all weekend. Second chukka consisted of Molly Dennis up the front getting a few handy snaps and goals in the final , Rob Pilmore fighting tough in the 2 shirt taking players and carting a lot of the ball to molly and out the back Sarah Carlin . The team improved throughout the weekend but losing to corio in the final

A grade Ricky Smith up the front like a good 1 should be. GTM didn’t disappoint this weekend playing his good horse shadow . Olivia berkin in the guts playing hard against stiff competition and out the back Bowes Kelly riding Bessie , changing it from previous weeks up the front . Second chukka was Jessica bowman up the front throwing some goals on the board for cats in the 2 shirt was holly wittig back in the A grade showing her skills and out the back Dillan Carlin on big Dan showing them how it’s done . Very solid all weekend .

Star of the weekend was Brydie Carlin representing Victoria in the under 21 VIC vs WA feature games . Brydie playing a great weekend on true love playing up the front and then in the middle holding her own and wining best lady player in the first game . Brydie is and up and coming super star and her determination and work ethic and passion for the sport is something to be very proud of .
