Canowindra Ballooning Canowindra Ballooning has been active in sport, recreational and competition ballooning since 1979. Our new balloon is a Kavanagh EX77 racer named Hot Stuff.

Canowindra had its first experience of hot air ballooning in the early 1970's. However it was not until 1979 with the establishment of Canowindra Ballooning instructional weekends that ballooning became a regular feature of the landscape. These weekends were based at "The Balloonery", a ballooning lodge converted from an old Mill in the centre of town. Canowindra Ballooning now focuses on promotin

g sport and recreational ballooning and we are also active in competition ballooning. Our four former balloons – Vision Splendid, Solaris, Solaria and the beautiful Volare are all well known in the area and across Australia. Canowindra is one of the best places in the world to fly and we hope balloonists from around the world will continue to join us in the skies over Canowindra and enjoy the wonderful country hospitality and attractions the area has to offer.

Best of luck Team and have a great time flying!

The time has arrived! The 2026 World Championships campaign is upon us and we are pumped to get into it.

This year we have 6 pilots in our combined Australian and Kiwi team ably supported by 26 crew members.

The team will be doing a couple of warm up events at the Croatian and Slovakian National Championships before hitting Poland and the world Championships in mid September.

The action starts in Croatia tomorrow and we wish all of our pilots and teams well.

After a fantastic night at the Glow, what better than a Key Grab for the balloons and a display of aircraft! There's penty to see and do on Sunday, 12 April in Benalla.

Balloon & Aircraft Fly-In ✈️

Join us at Benalla Historic Airport for a morning celebrating aviation as part of the Art of Flight Festival.

Explore visiting aircraft, aviation displays and general aviation walk-arounds, see static gliders up close and try the Gliding Club of Victoria flight simulator. You can also visit the Benalla Aviation Museum (paid entry) and watch the RAAF Balloon Team tether.

There will also be a Balloon Key Grab demonstration, plus coffee and food vans to keep you fuelled while you explore the airfield.
