Last night’s epic C Grade showdown between the Butchers and the Vikings was an absolute barnburner from the opening puck drop, delivering a physical, high-octane battle that ended in a thrilling 6-4 victory for the Vikings.

The ice tilted early as both sides traded heavy blows, but it was the high-flying alumni of the Tuggeranong Thunder who truly stole the show and lit up the lamp in the final period.

Tuggeranong Thunder's beloved alternate captain Harry put his new team the Butchers on his back, grinding out a gritty play to notch a crucial assist and take the lead halfway through the third period.

Putting on an absolute clinic for the Vikings was Scott Alford, the Thunder’s all-time franchise scoring leader, who proved why he is lethal in the offensive zone by burying a spectacular goal and dishing out two gorgeous assists.

Coach Tom joined the offensive onslaught shortly after, showcasing his hockey IQ by sniping the back of the net to keep the Vikings' momentum surging.

Despite early dominance by the Butchers, the Vikings finished the game with a flurry of goals final frame to skate away with the hard-fought W.

Thunder in Seventh Heaven - 7 goals and 7 games unbeaten.

The Thunder just dropped a touchdown on the Bombers, extending their franchise-record unbeaten streak to seven games to close out the regular season! Now, the boys head to the clubhouse to watch the scoreboard; their playoff fate rests on Thursday’s tilt between the Hornets and Average Joe's.

Coach Tom’s pre-game blueprint was simple: forecheck hard and make them chase the game. The Thunder executed to perfection. Just seconds after the opening draw, Rhys fired a beautiful stretch pass from the defensive zone to Michael, who buried it to open the floodgates. Michael doubled the lead midway through the frame before Rhys picked up a loose puck at the red line, gained the zone, and used the D-man as a screen to wire one home. 3-0 after one—total dominance.

The Bombers tried to claw back in the second, but the Thunder kept their foot on the gas. Daniel found Scott, who expertly tucked the puck five-hole under the tender’s pads. The Bombers finally spoiled Simon’s shutout bid—ending a legendary 100-minute clean sheet—after a frantic scramble in the blue paint.

The final frame was a high-scoring track meet. Michael completed his hatty with a filthy deke that left the goalie's ankles in the parking lot. After the Bombers pulled one back, Scott said "hold my beer," showing off some razzle-dazzle of his own to make it 6-2. Right off the ensuing faceoff, Jimmy went full beast mode, splitting the D and lighting the lamp before the announcer could even finish the last goal call. A late consolation goal for the Bombers made it a 7-3 final.

With points taken off every team this season, this squad has proven they can hang with anyone. Now, we wait for Thursday night to see if the season continues.

⚡ Thor’s God of Thunder MVP: Michael takes the crown this week. Between the hat-trick and his relentless motor, he was an absolute force on the ice! Michael should hit up Energizer Batteries for a sponsorship next season.
