Check out what some of the research says about loneliness and social isolation in Australia. It really does matter more than we think, but it can be hard to reconnect once we have been out of the loop and finding ways back is not always easy.

That is why I have created a 6-Week program for Women which starts August 21! Lets get better at building connection and community!

Someone parked a bike in front of me at the Conversation Bench and I made a passing comment about my son's downhill bike. That was the whole opening.

What followed was a long, meandering conversation about mental health, careers, travel, politics, even the moon landing. No destination, no agenda — just two strangers finding common ground.

He told me it left him feeling positive. It left me with that expansive, energised feeling that lingers for hours.

This is what connection does. Especially connection for no reason at all. Read the full story: 💙https://walktogethercounselling.com.au/connection-blog/f/im-a-therapist-and-stranger

Can't remember the last time a stranger made your day a little brighter?

Come find me at the Conversation Bench, outside the coffee shops by the River, every second Wednesday morning. No agenda, no pressure — just sit down and say hello.

I'm a therapist. You'd think talking to strangers comes easily to me.

It doesn't. Every single time, I have to push through the same nervousness everyone else feels — the not knowing what to say, the fear of getting it wrong.

Turns out it was never a skill gap. It's a permission gap. And no amount of experience makes that feeling disappear — you just get better at walking through it anyway.
