Zanshin Martial Arts

Zanshin Martial Arts Zanshin Martial Arts is a martial arts school with over 20 locations in Canberra and Queanbeyan area Our martial arts club is called Zanshin Martial Arts.

With 22 years teaching martial arts in the ACT and Queanbeyan area, Paul Murdoch and his huge team of Sensei instructors are excited to be going back to our roots in traditional martial arts to bring a wealth of real skills and techniques for our students to master. We teach Tae Kwon Do, Karate and Aikido. Traditional arts focus on one particular style or principle but time and numerous martial ar

tists have proven that versatility and combination of different principles would work well and in fact, better in most cases. Incorporating different practical techniques from different martial arts disciplines is far more effective, better, and learning is much quicker than sticking to one pure art which might take years to develop and master. This doesn’t make it a new martial art style, rather it’s a way for the student to learn from several traditional arts and under guidance from our experienced instructors, develop a personal style which compliments their own natural abilities. Zanshin is a martial arts term reflecting the awareness of everything around us and our place in it, and we feel this reflects not just what we teach, but our awareness of the place our martial art has in our local community. Zanshin Martial Arts is a team, we support each other and everyone who trains with us is a part of it.

FRANKLIN SENIOR JUNE GRADING HIGHLIGHTS

Here are a few highlights from our Franklin Senior Grading.

The standard throughout the grading was very good, with students demonstrating strong technique, effort and a positive attitude across all sections of the curriculum.

A grading is about more than simply performing techniques on the day. It is the result of weeks and months of training, practice and commitment. It was pleasing to see students step onto the floor with confidence and demonstrate the progress they have made since their last grading.

One of the highlights was seeing the wide range of ages represented, with students from 12 years of age through to 74 years old taking part. Martial arts is a personal journey, and every student is challenged according to their own experience, ability and goals. Regardless of age or rank, everyone is encouraged to continue learning, improving and striving to be better than they were yesterday.

Congratulations to all students who graded and achieved their next rank. Your results are a reflection of the hard work and consistency you have shown in your training.

Stay tuned throughout the week as we continue to share highlights from our June Grading weekend.

FRANKLIN JUNIOR JUNE GRADING HIGHLIGHTS

We had just under 300 students grade across the weekend in our Zanshin Martial Arts June Grading.

Here are a few highlights from our Franklin Junior Grading. It was great to see students aged 4 and 5 years old taking part alongside our more experienced juniors, right through to 12-year-olds preparing to make the transition into the Senior Class.

The overall standard was very good, with students demonstrating strong technique, focus and a positive attitude throughout the grading. It was pleasing to see the hard work and consistent training from both students and instructors reflected on the day.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and achieved their next grade.

Stay tuned throughout the week as we share more grading highlights from across our Zanshin Martial Arts locations. 🥋

CONGRATULATIONS TO SEMPAI ABHINAV ROHITH

It is with great pleasure that we announce the promotion of Sempai Abhinav Rohith.

Many of you will already know Abhinav from our Sunday classes at the Kingsford Smith Dojo in Holt, where he has been assisting Sensei Rachel and helping students on their martial arts journey. His dedication, commitment, and willingness to support others have made him a valued member of the Zanshin Martial Arts family.

The rank of Sempai is an important milestone. It is the first step on the path towards becoming a Sensei and marks the beginning of the instructor journey. As a Sempai, Abhinav will continue to develop his leadership skills, deepen his martial arts knowledge, and learn what it takes to guide and inspire future students.

We hope that in the years ahead, he will continue to grow as an instructor and, one day, have a dojo and students of his own. The future of Zanshin Martial Arts depends on dedicated leaders who are willing to pass on their knowledge and help the next generation of martial artists succeed.

Please join us in congratulating Sempai Abhinav Rohith on this well-deserved achievement. We look forward to watching him continue to grow as both a martial artist and future instructor.

CONGRATULATIONS, SEMPAI ABHINAV ROHITH!

If you have misplaced your grading form, please see your instructor and we will organise another one for you.

Keep up the great work, and we look forward to seeing everyone at grading.
