𝐇𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐆𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓-𝟐𝟔 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐩 (𝐬𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐫)

Our cricket team, Hazara Gliders, has had another successful season and have made it to the finals of the ACT Social Cricket Tournament (Grade B) which will be played at Hughes Oval on Sunday, 15 March 2026 at 12:00pm. Please come along and support the team.

2024-25 Cricket Season Recap: A season to remember for our team Hazara Gliders who finally won the ACT Social Cricket Tournament (Grade B) in their third attempt!

It was a roller coaster of a season with emotions often very high! The team finished 4th in the group stage, barely making it to the next round, but did not look back from there and went on to comprehensively defeat the BD Stars in the final to win the tournament. Kudos to the whole team for having such a successful season. Here are some photos from the season that was!

Here are more photos from the 2nd Canberra Multicultural Social Soccer Cup, played between 16-22 February 2025 at the O'Connor Oval.

Six teams from across Canberra battled it out for the trophy and the cash prize, which was ultimately won by Khukuri Canberra FB. They beat Joga Bonito in the final game by 3-1 goals.

Joga Bonito took the runner up trophy home. Abishek and Manish, both from Khukuri Canberra FB took the awards for top scorer of the tournament and player of the final.

We were honored to have Alicia Payne MP, Member for Canberra and Ms Zakia Patel from Multicultural Hub at the awards ceremony and present the trophies.

The tournament was organised to recognise the enormously positive contribution of sports in maintaining a healthy life and encourage participation in physical and wellbeing activities.

This tournament would not have been possible without the hard work put by our volunteers and cooperation from all teams and their management, so a big thank you to all of them.

Huge congratulations to Khukuri Canberra FC for winning the 2nd Canberra Multicultural Social Soccer Cup after a hard fought final against Joga Bonito who put a massive fight.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all teams who participated in the tournament and our special guests Ms Alicia Payne MP, Member for Canberra and Ms Zakia Patel from Multicultural Hub for attending and speaking at the awards ceremony.

A big shout out to all our volunteers without whom this event would not have been possible.

We are finally at the finals! Come join us at the final of the Canberra Multicultural Social Cup and support your teams. The final game will start at 6pm on Saturday, 22 Feb 2025 at the O'Connor Oval 1.

Come along and bring your friends and family. We will be joined by Ms Alicia Payne MP, Federal member for Canberra as the special guest of the evening.

Day 1 of the Canberra Multicultural Social Soccer Cup wrapped up. Congratulations to Khukuri Canberra FC and Joga Bonito who secured the most points and qualified for the finals.

Final will be played on Saturday, 22 February 2025 at 6pm Oval 1. We will be joined by Ms Alicia Payne MP, Federal Member for Canberra as the special guest.

Get ready for the second edition of the Canberra Multicultural Social Soccer Cup as six teams battle it out for the ultimate trophy. Fixtures are now up and date and times locked. Save the dates, times and location. It will be two days of fun, competition and plentiful soccer.

The tournament will follow a league system and every team will paly five matches in the group stage. The top two teams will qualify for the final.

Key dates and times:
- Group matches: Sunday, 16 February 2025 (10:00am start time)
- Final match and awards: Saturday, 22 February 2025 (6:00pm start time)
- Location: O'Connor 1 District Playing Fields - accessed via Pedder Street in O'Connor.

On 11 February 2024, Hazaras in Canberra organised Canberra's inaugural Multicultural Social Soccer Tournament at the O'Connor Oval.

Eight teams from across Canberra battled it out for the trophy, which was ultimately won by Punjabi United FC. They beat Nasim's Team by 4-2 goals in the grand final.

Jindi from Punjabi United won the Player of the final award for his stellar performance, and Abishek from Nasim's Team received the award for top scorer, having scored six goals in five matches.

The tournament was organised to recognise the enormously positive contribution of sports in maintaining a healthy life and encourage participation in physical wellbeing activities.

This tournament would not have been possible without the hard work put by our volunteers and cooperation from all teams and their management, so a big thank you to all of them.

That's a wrap to our cricket team's 2023-24 season which concluded with Hazara Gliders losing the grand final to Michelago. It was a sad end to an otherwise great season. We wish the team better luck for next season.
