Fundraising to aid in our battle with the bye…. Who we played 11 out of 23 weeks in the men this year….

James Harbeck

Some people are born for greatness, others are born to play hockey and bleed from the knee in every game they play and James…. Well….. he’s great but the man’s talent in life is bleeding from the knee caps. The 3 times a year when his work roster, social life and mind is clear enough to remember what time a game of hockey is he Harbeck puts himself in the middle, he looks completely gassed after 3 minutes then just runs all game. Happy to lay a hard tackle, thrives on hitting the ball out of the air and when Mitch/Luke miss every short corner Harbeck is happy to casually step up and put one in with ease. Someone said he’s got greatness about him, others say it’s vapeness.

Facebook keeps telling me to promote our brand, and it’s been at least 48 hours since we’ve looked for attention too so I’ll oblige..

Here’s the latest player profile, i swear half Country players are under witness protection because finding photos is impossible.

Tom Oates

Oatsy has royal blood when it comes to the Country’s hockey club and has been a stalwart in the line up for years. Lining up at centre forward Oatsy is an absolute bull with both power and skill troubling any defence he comes up against. He has an unlimited license to fire and doesn’t hesitate taking shots from all parts of the D and usually hitting the target. Rumour has it Oatsy hasn’t been on the defensive side of the halfway line since 2016 and has petitioned to rename southside D ‘Oatsy’s corner’. With his professionalism and commitment to maintaining high level of fluids, extensive warm ups and overall body care he will be presence for years to come.

As a club we took on the burden of feeding both the hungover population of Busselton and parents who feign a trip outside the house for a cost effective meal for their kids.

I speak of the Bunnings Sausage sizzle, stationed over two days we made $1900.

Thank you for all the volunteers who assisted! We had juniors, parents and senior players all contribute. Volunteers and sponsors make community sports happen so thank you!

Special shout out to Sean, who no doubt got told by Helen Friday night that she had volunteered him. Despite committing 10-12 he powered for longer, becoming one with the tongs embracing the cologne of onions.

Archer Hoyes on Sunday morning also operated the bbq with command of someone twice his age.

Everyone who helped was amazing. Thank you to you all again. Enjoy your Easter break

Player Profile - Mitchell Scott

Big Mitch Scott, when you see Mitchy you just know he’s the sort of bloke that was born with a
suspended driver’s license. Rumour has it that Mitch was 6 foot tall before he could write & spell, now he’s 6 ft 5 but still can’t write & spell. He is Mr. Versatility on the hockey field, down back, up forward it doesn’t matter you will know he’s there…. Mainly because he doesn’t shut up and lets everyone know he’s there. With a sweet drag, the occasional ability to score a goal and an imposing figure he is Country’s one and only enforcer…. Protector of anyone in a blue shirt and has the finest mullet in the 6280 area.

As your leader, both spiritually and literally, I have two announcements…

Firstly, I took it upon myself to register Brodie Armstrong and Tom Oates for another year.

Secondly, and completely unrelated, I want to congratulate ourselves as a progressive club for welcoming our first two non-binary playing members to the group.
