Wests SWL VS Boyanup
On Saturday for the Preliminary final clash against Boyanup was never going to be an easy task especially playing in Bunbury midday, with no home crowd!
Boyanup are a professional club that expect professional results, and to take it to them for four quarters, to push them right to the final two minutes, is something this group should be incredibly proud of.
In what was arguably our best game of the season, our press - something we had worked on all year, really came together when it mattered most. Defensively, we were disciplined and relentless, while going forward we continually looked to stretch the opposition, create space and put them under pressure. We even found ourselves up 1–0 (Logan Pilatti goal scorer), before Boyanup fought back to equalise. We went into the fourth quarter locked at 1–1, and unfortunately with just two minutes remaining they found the winning goal.
Of course it hurts. A preliminary final loss with two minutes on the clock always will.
But when you look at where this team has come from, there is an enormous amount to be proud of. From last place to taking on a professional club and pushing them to the absolute limit in a Preliminary final, that is progress. That is belief!
