You still have to make dinner,
Someone still needs you,
The kids still need to get to bed,
Life does not pause because you are exhausted.
So maybe the goal is not to find another way to cope better.
Maybe it’s to make the next part a little less demanding.
ASK LESS OF YOURSELF
What can be good enough today?
REMOVE A DEMAND
What does not actually need to happen?
MAKE A DECISION ONCE
Choose the easiest dinner
The easiest clothes
The easiest version of bedtime
USE WHAT HELPS
Give yourself 30 to 60 seconds of something that feels supportive:
A ice cold drink of water
A few slower breaths
Stepping outside
Spending a minute in a dark quiet room
Feeling your feet on the ground
Whatever you already know tends to help you feel a little more settled.
LET ENOUGH BE ENOUGH
You don’t need to turn an exhausting day into an opportunity for self improvement or perfect parenting.
Sometimes caring for yourself looks less like taking a break and more like making life require a little less from you and isn’t it amazing that we can model that for our kids.
If today is one of those days lowering the bar is not failing.
It is responding to the capacity you actually have.
Sometimes the goal is simply make the next 10 minutes a little more doable and that counts.
