Today is R U OK? Day 💛

Take a moment today to check in on someone in your life — a friend, a family member, a workmate, anyone you haven't checked in with in a while. Genuinely ask: "R U OK?" and really listen to the answer.

Remember the 4 steps: ask, listen with an open mind, encourage action, and check in again down the track. It doesn't take much — just a moment of your time and a willingness to really listen.

We have something super exciting coming for Open Play and Ninja Night on Saturday….

Ninja Night is back on Saturday 12th September!

We've added some new stuff this round – new games, new equipment, and a Ninja-Zone Obstacle Competition to test your skills.

When: Saturday 12th September, 5:30pm – 8:00pm
Where: Broome Senior High School (Kerr St entrance)
Ages: 5+
Cost: $25 per person (excl. payment fees)

Included: glow sticks, dinner (sausage sizzle), and free play.

💛 Day one of R U OK? Day activities done and dusted!

Our gym was full of yellow today — so many of our gymnasts dressed up for the occasion! We kicked things off with R U OK? Bingo, lollies and Milo, and a colouring-in station, all while chatting about why it’s so important to check in on the people around us.

It’s moments like these that remind us what a special little community we’ve built here — kids growing up learning to look out for each other, not just how to stick a landing. Watching them get involved and have fun with it, while picking up something so important, was honestly the sweetest thing to see today.

Thank you to everyone who came dressed in yellow and got amongst it. We’ve still got more to come tomorrow and Friday, so keep an eye out! 💛

R U OK? Day is this Thursday. Here's how to actually have the conversation:

1️⃣ Ask R U OK? Pick a good time and place, be relaxed and friendly, and ask open questions like "how are you going?" or "what's been happening?"

2️⃣ Listen with an open mind. Take what they say seriously, don't interrupt or rush to fix it — just let them talk and know they've been heard.

3️⃣ Encourage action. Ask "what's helped in the past?" and gently suggest they see a doctor, reach out to a friend, or call a helpline if things are tough.

4️⃣ Check in. Follow up in a few days or weeks — "hey, I've been thinking of you, how are you doing now?" It shows you genuinely care.

You don't need to be an expert — you just need to be a good friend, coach, or teammate. 💛

This Sunday we're giving a shoutout to all the gymnastics (and non-gymnastics!) dads out there. 🙌

The ones sitting through an hour of training on a plastic chair pretending they understand what a "cast handstand" is. The ones who somehow always know exactly which sock has gone missing from the gym bag. The ones cheering loudest from the back even when their kid can't see them.

Whether you're a dad, stepdad, grandad or just the bloke who ends up doing the school run on gym days — thanks for getting them here, week after week.
