Cardiff Hockey Club

Before the Club could actually take the field a few requirements had to be made.

• A Home Ground had to be established which became “ULINGA PARK” at Cardiff South.
• The field was in desperate need of repairs so resurfacing was required a suitable amount of dirt was placed on the playing grounds.
• A Committee had to be formed which consisted of team members – President, Treasurer and a Delegate.

The Delegates job was responsible for the times of games etc. The First Season began in 1989 with 3 Men’s Teams playing in 4th, 5th and 6th grades in the Newcastle Men’s Hockey Association. Players came from just about everywhere to help form this new upcoming club. Over the years the Club has grown to include Women’s Teams and to this day have 3 teams playing in the Newcastle Women’s Hockey Association at Broadmeadow Hockey Centre. 2005 was the start of our junior season we had 1 team in the modified under 9's in 2009 two junior teams were fielded one in under 9's and one in the C Grade girls competition. We welcome all juniors. The Committee has also grown from three positions to six positions:
President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Fund Raising Committee and Selection Committee with all these members being Volunteers. The Club also has won many Grandfinals - And to present day there are 4 Life Members
