A1 started in 2016, setting up the first Australian Adventure Racing Series and quickly expanded to become the premier national series in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, bringing together the best athletes and races in t
he most challenging yet stunning landscapes each country has on offer. and a new era in adventure racing is set to begin. Adventure 1 hosted the first World Cup Final, True West in 2022 with the first A1 Expedition Racing World Championship set for 2023. A1 has now expanded to almost 50 races across 20 different countries. All A1 National Series' offer races and pathways into adventure racing for first-timers (newbies), because we are equally passionate about developing the sport as we are about showcasing just how awesome adventure racing is. We are showing real benefits to the sport by having national series operate in multiple countries, all under the one overall recognizable brand Adventure 1. We believe for athletes, media, sponsors, and people intrigued by the sport, this will make it more accessible and even more exciting. Every A1 race involves the four traditional disciplines of trekking, kayaking, mountain biking, and navigation and varies from sprint distance lengths of up to 24hrs, through to 100hr non-stop expedition length races.
