What an awesome weekend,
Friday morning,
crew came around and helped load all the gear up and we started our journey up to Maryborough on the way up we stopped in to see Richard Auckram and gave him hand (as much as we could) then once loaded made our way up to the motel, feed then bed.
Race Day,
Morning, got up and did the usual breakfast shopping load up for track and headed down about lunchtime and unloaded car and set out up for the night of racing, car looking good and ready to go.
Heat 1, DNS/DNF
Rolled down to the dummy, got myself in the zone and as they opened the gates for us to roll out I got a tap on shoulder saying my RR was, so back to the pits we went, the crew jump straight into swapping my tyre out ready for Heat 2.
Heat 2, DNF
Yay I made it onto the track, race went green foot went flat till spinning out amongst the chaos of turn 1, got her pointed in the right direction, put the Hammer back down till 1st corner again this time I was trying to slide up under the 47 and karma bit me and spun myself and ended up sitting straight across turn 1-2 and the #58 had no where to go and T-boned straight into my wheel gate so hard it bent it nearly 90% jammed into rim which buckled and took out brakes and had to sit there on edge of race line with everyone full noise sliding within inches of of me, first time watching my car getting forked on to tilt tray, back at the pits I thought my night was completely over but with the crew working flat out and the massive help of Richard, Scott Smith and everyone who was not working on their own cars, with the brake caliper back on, new tyre and new gate we made it to the dummy with seconds to spare.
Heat 3, DNF
Was meant to start P1 but asked to start at rear as I had a swinging brake pedal and head still spinning from the last 30mins of chaos didn't want to be the reason for bad/false start, green green green foot when down cars went every everywhere, managing to stay clear clean of turn 1 I worked my way up a couple of spots, next lap around cars still going every glanced in mirror saw bout couple go straight into turn 3 wall next time around I was in 3rd place and car was getting faster and was in the zone what POP blew another RR tyre, oh well in for a penny in for a pound so kept boot in it for another lap then all of a sudden she redlined and I had lost all drive, with no drive dove infield and waited for push back to pits loaded up and went back to motel for a bbq and much needed rum!
