Windorah Premier Combine – Breeders Plate Race Rules
1. Race Overview
• The Breeders Plate race will be flown from Windorah, located approximately 800 km from all participating centres.
• The race is open to all birds and rings sold through official Breeders Plate sales, and will be flown in conjunction with the Windorah Premier Combine’s 2026 open race.
• All birds must comply with the standard Windorah race rules to be eligible.
2. Bird Sales
• Sales will be held in each of the following centres:
o Rockhampton
o Mackay
o Townsville
• Each centre must hold at least one sale.
• Sale dates will be announced to each combine centre with a minimum of four weeks’ notice.
• Birds will be auctioned with a starting bid of $20 per bird, and bids must increase in increments of at least $10.
• For every two birds placed in the Open Auction by the Breeder, entitles them the option to enter another entry at a cost of $40. This option is to be executed on the day of the sale.
• All birds entered for sale must:
o Be in good health
o Be weaned
o Be between the ages of 4 and 6 weeks.
• A record of bird numbers, colour, breeder, buyer, flyer, sale prices, and issued Breeders Plate rings must be forwarded to the Windorah Premier Combine’s nominated representative on the day of the sale.
3. Financial Details
• Funds raised from each sale will be allocated to the section where the birds are being flown, with 20% deducted to contribute to the overall Breeders Plate prize pool.
4. Prize Money Distribution
• Prizes will be allocated to the fastest 3 birds from the overall liberation, and fastest 3 birds in each section.
• Flyers, breeders and owners are eligible to take multiple prizes in both the overall and sectional results.
• The overall Breeders Plate prize pool will consist of 20% of total funds raised across all sales.
• Sectional prizes will be based on the remaining 80% of funds raised from birds being raced within each section (after the 20% deduction).
• Prize money for both overall and sectional results will be distributed as follows:
o 50% to 1st place
o 30% to 2nd place
o 20% to 3rd place
• Each prize awarded will be shared between:
o 40% to the breeder
o 30% to the flyer
o 30% to the owner
5. Entry & Eligibility
• Any flyer, within or outside the Combine boundaries, is eligible to offer birds for sale.
• All birds must be fitted with registered 2025 standard racing pigeon rings.
• All birds must be flown by financial members of a Windorah Premier Combine.
• Birds must be raced under standard Windorah Premier Combine rules.
• Birds will be liberated with the Windorah Premier Combine race birds and are eligible for open race prizes.
• Outside combine entries are automatically entered and eligible for out-of-area prizes.
