Every child deserves to feel safe in sport. 💚

This National Child Protection Week, we’re shining a light on the important role community sport plays in keeping children and young people safe.

For many children, sport is more than a game. It’s a place to belong, build confidence, form friendships and feel part of their community. That’s why creating a child-safe sporting environment needs to be everyone’s responsibility — from coaches and volunteers to committee members, parents, spectators and participants.

Safeguarding isn’t just about responding when something goes wrong. It’s about prevention, education and creating a culture where children feel safe, valued, respected and confident to speak up.

At Sports Focus, we work alongside community sporting clubs to help them understand their child safety responsibilities, identify risks and vulnerabilities, and embed strong child-safe practices into the way their club operates.

Because child safety isn’t a box to tick or a policy to put on a website. It’s an ongoing conversation and it’s something we all have a role in turning into action.

This National Child Protection Week, let’s keep the conversation going and make sure every child has the opportunity to experience community sport as a safe, positive and welcoming place to belong.

A reminder of this afternoon's Under 15 Girls and Under 16 Boys divisions Best & Fairest vote counts. Players in contention have been invited to the count, however the event is open to any BJFL registered players and families to attend

The votes are in, and the excitement is building!

It’s almost time to find out who will be crowned the Bendigo Junior Football League Best & Fairest winners across the U14, U15, and U16 age groups.

Clubs will be notified shortly of which players from their teams are invited to attend the respective vote counts.

It promises to be a fantastic celebration of the season and a great opportunity to recognise some of the BJFL’s outstanding young talent.

Please note if you are attending BJFL finals matches at at Canterbury Park tomorrow.

🏉 PRELIMINARY FINAL – IMPORTANT GATE INFORMATION 🏉

For those heading to Canterbury Park tomorrow, please take note:

🚫 The main gate on the corner of Simpsons Rd and Fry Lane will be CLOSED.

Entry to the ground will instead be via:
✅ Trumble St gate – near the cricket nets
✅ Gate below the netball courts

Parking will also be difficult so please allow a little extra time when arriving.

We’re looking forward to a huge day of finals footy at Canterbury Park – and we’d love to see plenty of blue around the ground supporting our U16s at 3:10pm as they fight for a place in the Grand Final! 💙🩵🦅

A reminder for all patrons at the BJFL Finals over the next couple of weeks:

- No smoking or va**ng inside the venues (It is illegal)
- No dogs permitted unless it is a support dog
- No alcohol

If these guidelines are not adhered to or are met with a response of aggression, you will be referred to the league. You and/or the club that you are supporting will face possible fines and/or suspension from all AFL Central Victoria sanctioned events.

THE 2026 LA TROBE UNIVERSITY BJFL GRAND FINALS ARE COMING!

The stage is set, the venues are locked in, and we’re ready for a huge Grand Final weekend to bring the 2026 Bendigo Junior Football League season to a spectacular close!

Across three massive days and four fantastic venues, our Grand Finalists will battle it out for premiership glory, with plenty of excitement, nerves and unforgettable moments along the way.

FRIDAY NIGHT | Canterbury Park, Eaglehawk

We kick things off under lights with the Under 12 Girls Grand Final! A Friday night decider is the perfect way to launch what promises to be an incredible weekend of junior football.

SATURDAY MORNING | QEO

Saturday morning sees a standalone Grand Final at the Queen Elizabeth Oval, with the Under 16A Boys taking to the famous venue before the BFNL Finals matches get underway.

SATURDAY | Harry Trott, Kennington

Saturday is a huge day at Harry Trott, with all four Under 12 Mixed Grand Finals taking centre stage before the Under 14C Mixed Grand Final rounds out the day.

SUNDAY | Tannery Lane (Triple M), Strathfieldsaye

The Grand Final action continues on Sunday as we head to Strathfieldsaye for the remaining Under 14 Mixed divisions, the Under 15 Girls, and the Under 16B Boys Grand Finals.

That’s 11 premierships to be decided across one massive weekend!

A huge thank you to the clubs hosting our Grand Finals and to the tireless volunteers who will give their time to ensure each venue is ready to provide a memorable experience for our players and families.

Your contribution is what makes junior football so special.
