Yoga for Good Foundation. https://yogaforgood.com.au/

I am very grateful to the Yoga for Good Foundation for support in facilitating Yoga for Trauma sessions for Afghani women in Shepparton.
The majority of the women have never had the opportunity to practice yoga. 80-90% of the women have non-specific back pain and other physical symptoms related to trauma from their traumatic life experiences. Challenges with speaking English also places the women at risk of social isolation and limited access to wellbeing activities in the community.
The Yoga for Good grant enabled me to work with the Afghani women, finding a safe appropriate space and to engage an amazing Afghani translator (shout out to Shakilla) to facilitate and navigate the sessions.
The Yoga for Trauma sessions offered a safe inclusive space for gentle body movement, mind and body connection and relaxation. There was also space for fun and laughter with positive influences on physical and mental health and wellbeing.
I am certainly hoping for more opportunities to facilitate yoga in this space. Yoga should be accessible for everyone!

Sometimes trauma can seem heavy & unrelenting but a hopeful reminder that our bodies can heal & bring in joy & lightness 💕🌸💕. Movement, including gentle yoga is great for shifting ’stuck’ emotions & inviting peace , calm & hope back in.

Rest & stillness are vital in supporting you to feel balanced, calm & regulated.

So true Becki Nourish & Bloom Yoga Mental Health & Wellness, our catch ups are full of sharing, encouragement, support, ideas & of course laughter & connection. So important to feel this care & support when trail blazing & starting out on new ventures. It keeps our passion alive as we give service (seva) in support of people searching for healing & wellbeing. 🙏Becki.

We live in such a diverse world. People come in all shapes, sizes, and colours. It’s truly amazing.
Diversity is great. It opens you up to new experiences and ideas. Some you may never have thought of before.
I encourage you to seek diversity.

But I also encourage you to seek out like-minded people.
WHY?
It’s quite simple actually. You should seek out likeminded people for their encouragement. And the encouragement that they can bring to you.
Finding others who are pursuing their passions and desires can bring a huge boost to your pursuit of the lifestyle you desire.
This weekend I met up with my good friend Teresa Carney from Ioga Care and Connections. (If you are looking for trauma sensitive/Dru Yoga facilitator around Benalla she is your woman!).

We both live some distance apart, yet we meet regularly, as we are like- minded people. We have a few shared passions which unite us – the main one being Yoga/movement.
We are both expanding our horizons this year, challenging ourselves to bring our businesses alive as we are both passionate about supporting people to heal through yoga and movement.

Our conversations always lift my spirits, and I leave with a spring in my step, ready to get it done.

When we talk to like-minded people you begin to catch the enthusiasm of the other person. It works both ways and you both end the conversation feeling pumped for what’s next.

It’s a great way to get that boost forward. To get the encouragement you need to move to the next level.

All it takes is a step to connect.

How can you do it?
• Make a list of the qualities you would like to have
• Begin watching and interacting with others
• Gravitate toward those who are pursuing the same passions as you.
• Connect and form friendships

Before you know it, you’ll be on the pathway to success. You’ll have budding relationships that are pushing you and your friends towards goals unimaginable.
What step can you take this week to connect with a like-minded person?
