📣📣Attention All Victorian Fistballers! 📣📣

Get your nominations in for your chance to represent Australia in New Zealand in November.

The time has come for the fourth iteration of the Asia-Pacific Fistball Championships, this time to be held in Prebbleton, New Zealand later in 2026!

The tournament is currently scheduled to run from Thursday 12 November to Sunday 15 November, and at this stage the tournament is expected to feature men’s, women’s, masters and youth divisions — subject to final team registrations — with teams currently anticipated from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Samoa, Pakistan and potentially India.

Held only once every four years, the Asia-Pacific Championships are one of the most important events on the international fistball calendar for the Oceania region. The tournament acts as the qualifying pathway for future IFA international events and will also serve as the Oceanic qualification tournament for the 2027 Men’s Fistball World Championships in Brazil. This will be the first time the Asia-Pacific Fistball Championships have been held in New Zealand, after last being hosted in Geelong, Australia in 2022.

As the final major international tournament in what is shaping up to be a significant year for Australian fistball, the 2026 Asia-Pacific Championships will play an important role in shaping the future direction of Australia’s international programs heading into 2027 and beyond - particularly for the Wombats and Possums.

Nominations are now open for national team selection across four categories - men’s, women’s, masters and youth teams - with selection trials (where necessary) expected to be held throughout the year.

Nomination link in the comments.

More details to come regarding the tournament itself, but in the meantime if there are any questions or concerns about the tournament details, selection process, or the nomination form itself - these can be directed to [email protected].

Fist on!

Great to see the first Aussie, Nila Poudal from NSW, competing in the German Faustball Bundesliga for TV 1880 Käfertal Faustball

TVK schreibt trotz Niederlage Geschichte ‼️

Congrats Nila to your first game in the Bundesliga 👏🏼

Well that is the ‘s tournaments done for another year. Our make up tournament, the Milne-Greisheimer Cup saw five clubs represented into a combined three teams. Westside Wombats merged with the Mutt Fisters (plus a Melbourne Thunder player) to create the Muttbats, the normally ever reliable Fist Club merged with the equally reliable Possums to form the Fistums and our newest team rocked up with a surplus of players, Melbourne Thunder bringing this tournament into a three team thriller.

With the round robin games played as best-of-3, it saw the Muttbats straight through to the grand final as the only undefeated team. Melbourne Thunder and the Fistums battled it out in a close three set match, seeing the Fistums through to the final.

In a close encounter to 21 (as the day was getting late), the Muttbats were victorious over the Fistums in a come from behind match (not too dissimilar to the what was going on at the adjoining kickball games across the field😉) seeing them take home the Milne-Griescheimer Cup.

We thank Bryce ‘The Pope’ Greisheimer coming along to present his name-sake cup to the winning team and not entertaining the crowd with one of his well known sermons.

And finally in a fistball first in Australia, the Rookie of the day also won the MVP award which went to Lucky from Melbourne Thunder. Due to his stand out performance, he has been invited to join the up coming Australian Development Team to take on the kiwis in April down in Geelong. If he is available, we have no doubt he will do some damage on the fistball field.

Finally thanks against to our sponsors, Mt Pleasant Rd Brewers for not only supplying our delicious drinks of choice but supplying the winning team with a $60 voucher to their very own tap house on MtPleasant Rd, in Belmont, and also Deenz Business Group Australia for supplying our winning MVP players with some sweet merchandise.

Keep an eye out for casual hitting dates and training sessions as we build towards the Trans-Tasman champs against the NZ in which over 20 Victorian Fistballers will be representing Australia over several teams.
