What does All Levels mean?
It means this class is genuinely suitable for everyone.

Sunday mornings have settled into a lovely quieter rhythm too, so there’s plenty of space to move, spread out, and enjoy the hall.

You’ll be given options, clear instructions, and plenty of ways to make the practice suit your own body on the day.

Decades of teaching yoga in the beautiful Progress Hall

I’ve been teaching yoga here for such a long time now, and that feels special to me.

Over that time I’ve watched people’s lives unfold in the loveliest ways. I’ve seen women become mothers, mothers become grandmothers, bodies change, lives change, and still we keep coming back to the mat.

There is something very beautiful about practising yoga in a place with history, timber floors, open doors and all that Mission Beach beauty around us.

This is where we roll out our mats each week.

We’ve been working on strength all week, and we’re rolling straight into another week of it because there is so much to unpack.

Strength in yoga is not one thing.

It’s plank, Dog Pose, standing poses, balance, holding, lifting, lowering, and learning how to use your whole body in different ways.

Useful strength. The kind you feel in class, and the kind you take with you into life.

Most of you know we’re building a new website at the moment.

The idea is to make things easier. Easier to find online classes, book Progress Hall classes, see what events are coming up, and generally understand what happens here at Yoga For Life.

One of the questions I was asked for the website was:

Why is there a dog in class?

And you know, I found that surprisingly hard to answer.

Because those of you who come to class already know.

Mr Percival is part of the room.

He settles in, keeps an eye on things, occasionally chooses the best blanket, and somehow reminds us all to soften a little.

He is never the point of the class, but he has become part of the feeling of the class.

A little bit of humour.
A little bit of calm.
A little reminder that practice does not have to be serious to be meaningful

Did you know I like to finish most of our classes with a reading?

It’s a small thing, but I think it matters.

A few words to take with you.
A little top-up for the way you speak to yourself.
Because strength is not all push-ups. YogaPractice

Useful strength.

That’s what we’re working on tomorrow and all week.

The kind of strength that supports your shoulders, spine, hips, balance and everyday life.

We’ll build it layer by layer, with clear instruction, steady work and options along the way.

Sunday starts the theme.
8.30 to 9.45
Then we carry it through the week

TRUE STORY

Today I was filming an online class and talking about Dog Pose being the garlic of all yoga postures.

Good for everything… like garlic

Almost at the exact same moment, a message arrived from a student I taught 25 years ago.

She said she always remembers me saying that Dog Pose is the garlic of yoga postures.

I love that kind of timing.

And I love knowing that the smallest things we say can travel farther than we ever imagine, quietly taking root and staying with someone for years. Moments like that remind me that teaching is never just about the time we share in a room—it’s about the unseen threads that continue connecting us long after we’ve gone our separate ways. dogpose downwarddog

Strength is the theme this week.

I’m lesson planning today, and this is where the week begins.

How do we build strength in a way that is useful, intelligent and sustainable?

We’ll work step by step, with clear instruction and plenty ideas.

This Sunday’s class begins the theme, and the online classes will follow. YogaStrength
