Train slow to think fast.

Moderate steady state cardio has been shown to increase cerebral blood flow and support executive functioning.

Really that means more blood, oxygen and nutrients to the brain, which = better focus, longer attention span, efficient task switching and more resilient emotional regulation.

This protocol in the post works best for deep work and other cognitively demanding tasks.

Losing weight isn’t hopeless.
If you’ve dropped fat before and gained it back, it’s not because you’re broken. It’s because your brain has a built-in system (the lipostat) that fights to pull you back to where you were.

You can beat it, but it’s not about going harder or cutting more. It’s about doing it smarter.

✅ Lose at a steady pace, not crash-diet fast.
✅ Lift weights so you keep your muscle and metabolism.
✅ Eat plenty of protein and whole foods so you’re not starving.
✅ Hold at your new weight with “maintenance phases” so your body accepts it.
✅ Stay consistent long enough for your brain to reset to the new normal.

That’s how you stop the yo-yo. That’s how you keep the fat off.

Ada came to me with years of back pain, hesitation around exercise, and a goal to feel strong again.

We started slow.
Built trust.
Worked closely with her physio.
And over 7 weeks, she’s now lifting pain-free and down 7kg.
Now we’re building continuing to build her strength back up so she can be running and surfing again by summer.
