First Love:

As a Kingdom Builder it is not about your business, it’s not about your gifts and talents, and it’s not about your assignment.

It’s about God … and he should be your first love.

The one that takes your thoughts.

The one that captures your imagination.

Which is why Jesus said to his disciples (this includes us): Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness.

Why?

It’s about priorities … and about getting them right.

There is an order to things, and the right order serves you better than you think.

Not just now, but into eternity.

It’s easy to put other things first.

It’s easy to get consumed by other things, whether that be business, hobbies or downtime stuff.

It’s harder to put God as number one … unless he is the first love of your heart and of your thought life.

This is not a forced thing … it’s a response thing.

John 3:16,17 - For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

God’s love for each one of us is so strong he gave up what was most precious in order that we might be saved.

Of course, we then need to make that decision, but it should not stop at a decision.

It should be a daily response to pursue him, as he pursued us.

First love is not about your initial decision, or first response.

First love is a daily response … a heart posture where I choose to make him first above all.

And when I do, he takes care of all the rest (“and all these things will be given to you as well”), because I have my priorities right.

When I don’t make him first, then I am stating that other things are more important than him, other things are more elevated than him.

In other words, I have idols above him.

Whichever way you go … it is always your choice.

His choice is to love and bless … but we have to have our priorities right to walk in the blessings.

Make Him your first love and keep Him your first love.

The Financial Jigsaw Puzzle:

Numbers in a business can be a little scary or misunderstood.

Your business has a number of different financial mechanisms that appear to be telling you something.

But if you don’t know how to make sense of them … you can easily be misled.

A while back I met a bloke who was banging on about the amount of cash he had in his business bank account, as if it meant his business was doing super well.

Maybe I said, but your bank account is only one part of the financial jigsaw puzzle.

I said that because I have heard the same thing countless times from people in business.

Here’s the problem, the bank account is a snapshot of what’s there today.

Cash is only one part of the puzzle … it’s not the whole picture of what is going on.

And your bank account only shows you the cash you have today … not the money you owe or are owed.

So you need to know the 4 parts of the financial jigsaw.

Bank account
Profit and loss
Balance sheet
Cashflow forecast.

Perhaps you have a different view than me and that’s cool … but my view is based on 39 years immersed in this stuff.

Can some businesses run purely from their bank account? Possibly, but most can’t!

So, you need to know how all this works, so that you really understand what is going on and how well you’re doing.

For me, this is a critical thing for my clients to understand, so that they gain more control and can then multiplying profits and surplus cash.

The key – understand how the numbers work … and get the numbers to work for you.

Because it is so important, I created a 7-week workshop series “The Financial Fundamentals” where I show my clients how it all works and give them the tools and templates to put it all in place quite simply … so that it works for them.

Every one of my clients gets access to this, no matter what level they are working with me.

The Assignment Mentorship Group is open right now for the next 7 days.

There’s never been a better time to get control of your business, your finances and your time.

Let me know if you want an invite and I’ll get you the details.

Staying On Track:

I was out in the surf the other morning before hitting the office and there was one heck of a drift heading south.

Even on the paddle out I had drifted about 30-40 metres.

I knew this because I had set up an anchor point on the beach to keep me on track.

However, I noticed quite a few people seemed oblivious to the drift.

Which is probably for a few reasons:
- It could be that they are fairly new to surfing;
- It could be they were not that familiar with the beach; or
- It could be that they just didn’t notice they were drifting.

And I see this parallel in business quite a lot.

People start their business with great enthusiasm.

They get busy doing whatever they do.

They add more and more services or products, because customers asked, or they needed the work.

And next minute their business is drifting.

It’s drifting sometimes without them knowing and sometimes with them not knowing how to get it back on track.

One of the keys I have found to keeping your business on track and staying on track is accountability.

Most entrepreneurs don’t really like accountability, that’s why they are in business for themselves.

But 99% of the time, without accountability of some kind, it is easy to start drifting and it’s hard to stay on track.

One of the things my small crew of clients in the Assignment Mentorship group tell me is that having that accountability week in week out has helped them stay on track.

And it has also helped them get the momentum to move forward, a momentum that had been alluding them.

Momentum in the right directions produces the results you want.

Which for my group of clients is: better profits, more effective use of their time and fulfilling their God given assignment.

And the key is staying on track.
Right now, the Assignment Mentorship group is open for some new clients to join us.

Perhaps that’s you.
Perhaps it’s time to stop drifting …

And time to get on track.
