🥉 What an achievement, Ella Marshall🇦🇺

A huge congratulations to Ella Marshall and Sam Stunell on claiming bronze in the PR3 Mixed Double Sculls at the 2026 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam.

Ella’s journey to the world stage has been nothing short of incredible. Less than a year after discovering she was eligible for Para rowing, she has earned her place in the Australian Para Rowing Team and, at her very first Senior World Championships, stood on the podium as a World Championship bronze medallist.

Ella will always hold a special connection with Mersey, and having watched her rowing journey over the years, we couldn’t be happier to see where that journey has taken her.

Congratulations Ella and Sam. What a moment, and what an incredible achievement! 🥉🇦🇺

A NEW CHAPTER FOR MERSEY ROWING CLUB 💙 🚣‍♀️

Something pretty special is taking shape on the banks of the Mersey.

With our new floating pontoon soon to become part of the club, we’re marking the occasion with the MRC Legacy Recognition Program, an opportunity for members past and present, families, crews, friends and our wider community to leave their mark on a club that has called the Mersey home since 1888.

Your contribution will be permanently recognised on our Legacy Model and will help us continue investing in the equipment and opportunities that keep our club moving forward.

Be part of the history. Be part of what comes next.

👇 Check out the flyer and please SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!

Help us take this beyond our club community and reach as far and wide as we can.

All donations are 100% tax deductible through the Australian Sports Foundation.

🚣‍♀️ WINTER CAMP No. 1 | DONE & DUSTED 💙

The first weekend of August saw the MRC crew hit Lake Barrington for our first Winter Camp of the season, and the Lake certainly turned it on.

Pristine water. Misty mornings. Plenty of kilometres. Plenty of hard work.

But these weekends are about much more than just kilometres in the boat.

They’re about learning to work together. Building combinations. Challenging yourself. Sharing meals, having a laugh and spending time with the people you train alongside week after week.

It’s where crews start to come together and where Team Spirit is built, both on and off the water.

A huge amount goes into making a camp weekend happen, and we’re very grateful to our coaches, volunteers, families and everyone who rolled up their sleeves and played a part.

One camp down. Plenty of work still to come.
Bring on Camp No. 2. 💪🚣‍♀️💙

A Proud Day for Mersey Rowing Club! 💙🚣

We are incredibly proud to congratulate Prudence Tippett on being awarded the Women’s Sport and Recreation Tasmania Emerging Coach Scholarship as part of the 2026 Emerging Coach Scholarships.

Selected from 36 applicants representing 20 different sports across Tasmania, this scholarship recognises Pru’s passion for coaching and her commitment to developing athletes within our club.

At Mersey Rowing Club, we know that great coaches help build great clubs. Pru’s enthusiasm, encouragement and willingness to support others have already made a positive impact, and this scholarship will provide another opportunity for her to continue developing her coaching skills.

Congratulations, Pru, on this well-deserved achievement. We are excited to see where this opportunity takes you and look forward to the positive impact you’ll continue to have on our athletes and our club.

Your Mersey Rowing Club family is incredibly proud of you. 💙🚣

Mersey Rowing Club would like to sincerely acknowledge the support of Devonport City Council through its Community Grants Program.

Our most recent grant enabled the Club to undertake a strategic planning process facilitated by Clubmap, helping to strengthen the foundations of our organisation for the future.

Through this process, the Club has delivered a range of important initiatives, including:
🚣‍♀️ the development of a multi-year strategic plan;
🚣‍♀️ the implementation of a dedicated communications platform for formal club communications;
🚣‍♀️ the development of position descriptions for key volunteer roles; and
🚣‍♀️ continued improvements to our governance, including Child Safe practices.

We are grateful to Devonport City Council for investing in community sport and supporting the ongoing growth and sustainability of Mersey Rowing Club.

🚣‍♀️ Winter is where the foundations are built 🚣

Our winter training program is well underway, with MRC athletes and coaches making the most of weekend mornings on the Mersey.

These sessions are about more than just kilometres on the water. They’re about building fitness, refining technique, developing crews, and laying the foundations for the season ahead.

It’s great to see the commitment, camaraderie and enjoyment that continue to make Mersey Rowing Club such a special place to be.

Here’s to another winter spent doing what we love. 💙

Introducing the Mersey Rowing Club Coaching Team for 2026/2027

As we prepare for the 2026/2027 season, we are pleased to introduce the Mersey Rowing Club coaching team.

Pictured from left to right are Marcel Brown, Mark Clemens, Simon Spaulding, David Tippett and Pru Tippett.

Our coaches bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to the club and are committed to creating a supportive environment where rowers of all ages and abilities can learn, improve and enjoy the sport.

From our Learn to Row participants through to our competitive athletes, the success of our programs relies heavily on the dedication of volunteers who generously give their time to support others. The hours spent planning, coaching, mentoring and encouraging our members often go unseen, but their impact is felt throughout the club.

A sincere thank you to our coaching team for the commitment, passion and countless hours they invest in supporting our members and helping our athletes achieve their goals. Mersey Rowing Club is fortunate to have such a dedicated group leading our programs.

There’s always a place for new members at Mersey Rowing Club. We’d love to welcome you to our rowing community.
