🟡🔵 RWCC PRESENTATION NIGHT - Tonight!

We’ve made it to the end of the season and it is time to celebrate what has been a fantastic first year of Rovers Works Cricket Club.

Please join us tonight, Friday 17/04/26, at Alice Springs Brewery for junior and senior presentations, a catch up with teammates and an enjoyable night.

⏰ Arrive 5:30pm for a 6:00pm start
🟡 Junior presentations followed by senior presentations
🔵 Club is putting on some food, more food and drinks available for purchase

SENIOR MENS GRAND FINALS WRAP

A Grade

Winning the toss and having a bat, Tanner managed to accurately pick out the only fielder in the outfield early on. Nick and Lucas put on a strong partnership of 70 through the middle. Strong running between the wickets and intelligent batting keeping the scoreboard ticking over in the face of some accurate bowling. However boundaries were difficult to come by and late fireworks did not come to fruition - finally settling on a middling total of 3-111 off the 20 overs. Topscorer being eventual man of the match Lucas (53*) with support from Nick (27).

Alice Tigers batting with particularly disciplined. The slowish pitch did not suit our seam up bowlers, and the tigers opening batters (Balpreet & Jatin) put on 74. Everytime the required run rate was sneaking up, the Tigers batters were good enough to get a boundary to 2 away. some late wickets from spin duo Nick & Ben managed to give them a scare - nearly taking it to the final over. However massive credit to the Tigers for getting across the line off the last ball of the 19th over. Best bowler being Ben with 2-14 off his 3 overs.

Huge thank you to Justin Dowson, Josephine Nitschke & Mary Hair for putting on a massive spread for the whole club during and after the match.

Also a big thank you to Kulwinder & Amrat Singh from Central Frui & Vegetable wholesalers for providing sustenance to all out teams throughout the season.

SENIOR MENS GRAND FINALS WRAP

B Grade

Losing the toss and being put in, the top order put in a strong start - being 2-73 at one stage. In the push to up the ran rate late in the innings, wickets falling through the middle - finally being bowled out off the last ball for 114. Top scorer being Luke Southam with 46.

Big boundaries and a slowish outfield, we had Feds 2-26 at one stage and were keeping the run rate in check. However a mature innings from Deep Singh with support from Jonty Fernando, helped Feds get across the line with 2 overs left. Best of the bowlers Roshy with 1-8.

A shout out to captain Orin - possibly playing his last game for an extended time. Has particularly led from the front with Bat & Ball throughout the season and will be missed,

SENIOR MENS GRAND FINALS WRAP

C Grade
On an unseasonably cold windy day, after losing the toss and being put in the field, made a strong start to have Wests 4-37 (including and absolutely sensation catch from Cohen Thiele). However they were then hit by a cyclone in the form in the form of Jacob Dick (83 from 35 balls). Strong bowling performances from Joel Willams & Lang Hayes, each taking 3-25.

Facing a stiff chase of 170, they were daring to dream at 1-80 at the 10 over mark. - Joel (44) and Cohen (27 - unfortunate to be caught in the 3rd row of the tiered seating). Loss of regular wickets meant the required run rate kept escalating. Late fireworks from Lang (35 from 19), couldn't quite get us close enough, finally falling 28 runs short at 8-142. Brave effort chasing a stiff total.

Our teams for tomorrows Grand Final day! Congrats to all who have been selected, we know you will represent our club well and give your all. To those who missed out, thank you for helping get our club in such a strong position. ASCA awards tonight! Congratulations to our Juniors on their well deserved awards. I’ll leave you all with this one quote from the great Shane Warne “If it wasn’t for junior pathways who knows where I’d be.” Please please take up the mantle- look after our future legends, or we may not have a future…. And Up The Mighty RWCC!!
