Te Waka Dragons

Te Waka Dragons Competitive Dragonboat Team - Brisbane, Australia Originally located on the Gold Coast, the club moved north to Brisbane in 2002.

Te Waka Taniwha (Te Waka - the boat, Taniwha - dragon in Maori) was formed in 2000 by group of friends wanting to revel in the sport's social nature. Since then training has been based on the Brisbane River with crews departing from Breakfast Creek. In 2007, an influx of new members saw the club and its committee reinvigorated. With a new lease on life the club has seen membership numbers grow and

new boats and equipment acquired. Today, the club is proud to be one of Queensland's top teams and represent the sport of dragon boating to the wider community.

We couldn’t do what we love without you!

You are such a key part of every boat’s success β€” keeping us calm, controlled and confident, guiding us through the race and helping us become one crew.

Your experience, leadership and encouragement make such a difference, both on and off the water.

Thank you for everything you do for us. We appreciate you! πŸ’›πŸ–€ πŸ›Ά

🌊 Hualien, Taiwan β€” that’s a wrap! πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡Ό

What a week it has been. What a place to race, and what an experience to remember.

A magical location, incredible organisation and coordination, and so many moments that will stay with us for a long time.

New friends made. Old friends reunited. Plenty of laughs, a few nerves, some hard racing and races that are definitely going into the memory banks. πŸ’›πŸ–€

The CCWC campaign has given us so much more than results. It’s been about the people, the experiences, the camaraderie and the memories made along the way.

Now it’s time for a little rest and relaxation, a chance to catch our breath, reflect on the week, and then start thinking about what goals we might chase next. πŸ‰

A huge thank you to everyone who has followed, supported, encouraged and cheered us on throughout our CCWC campaign. Your messages and support have meant a lot.

Hualien β€” thank you for the memories. ❀️

And as for us… stay tuned for more Waka adventures! πŸŒπŸš£β€β™€οΈ

πŸ”₯πŸ‰ DAY 6 | 2000m RACING πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡Ό

First up β€” our SNR A Mixed 20’s crew! πŸ’ͺ

The last hit out for the boys, giving absolutely everything from the first stroke to the last. No holding back, no regrets β€” leaving nothing in the tank!πŸ”₯ Well supported by 10 amazing strong ladies.

A mighty 10th place out of 20 crews! πŸ‘πŸ‘ What an effort from the whole crew. β€οΈπŸ‰

Then it was the Prems Ladies taking to the water one last time in the Small Boat. πŸš£β€β™€οΈπŸ”₯

Woggy gave us two goals:
πŸ‘‰ Pass the boat in front of us.
πŸ‘‰ Don’t get passed by another boat.

GOALS ACHIEVED! βœ…βœ…

The ladies dug deep, raced smart and finished 9th out of 19 crews! πŸ’ͺ❀️

What a way to finish the racing for both crews!

Now… LET THE PARTY BEGIN! πŸ₯³πŸ»πŸŽ‰πŸ‰
