💙 WE RAISED OVER $2,000 FOR STONEY’S MUM! 💙

Words never seem like enough to thank everyone involved in getting a roller derby game off the ground.

The preparation starts months in advance - securing venues and opponents, organising vendors, photographers and food vans, and navigating all the paperwork: event permits, bar licences and everything in between. 🛼🔥

And behind every one of those jobs is a real human being, volunteering their time, energy and skills to make it happen.

Then game day arrives… and suddenly, it’s a hive of activity. 🐝

Months of planning and preparation come to life.

Our team gets to play. We get to showcase our fun, wild, fast-paced and hard-hitting sport to our community. And the stands fill with the people who make it all worthwhile - loved ones, workmates, school friends, mums, dads, aunties, uncles, kids… everyone coming together to cheer us on. ❤️

So, thank you.

Thank you to everyone who did something - the little things, the big things, the boring paperwork, the exciting radio interviews, the early starts, the late finishes and everything in between.

Every contribution matters. Every volunteer makes a difference. And together, you help make roller derby happen in Albany.

WHAT A GAME! we had an amazing night and we think the crowd was the real MVP! What a vibe! Perth brought their best game and we had a blast!

This Saturdays game is extra special for our club.

It’s all about fundraising for Stoneys Mum - Nicole

All profits from the ticket sales, bar and merch is going to her fundraising campaign. Nicole is facing some life changing surgery after years of battling cancer.

People are the most important thing about our club, the people who volunteer, who coach, who are there cheering us on every game.

💜Today is Wear It Purple Day 💜

Where we celebrate our LGBTIQA + young people and lead the way in inclusion in sport in Albany.

It’s not just about this day, but every other day in between, when we celebrate the diversity, champion the individuals and support every person being their authentic selves.

Too often in sporting spaces LGBTIQA + people are not made to feel welcome. They do not feel that they can be themselves or be ‘out’ in their sporting community due to homophobia or transphobia.

We actively address this in our sporting club. We offer free pronoun stickers for people‘s helmets and drink bottles, we introduce ourselves with our pronouns.

We celebrate days of significance in the LGBTQIA + calendar, we support Pride Week here in Albany and use our platform to educate our community and the wider community about the importance of inclusion.

Our freshies skaters got their first taste of real roller derby 👅

We were able to host a modified contact (Mod Con) roller derby game this Sunday. With some help from our older juniors and a couple of more experience skaters 😉

We had our new skaters on the track having fun, learning game play, team work and strategies. Apart from a shorter game it was REAL Roller Derby, real contact, real points and maybe more than a few real penalties 😂 absolutely heartwarming wholesome roller derby content
