6 Simple Tips for Unarmed Attacks Around a Vehicle

Most people think about techniques when they hear the term self-defense. In reality, awareness, positioning, and decision-making often play an even bigger role.

In this video, I share 6 simple tips for dealing with unarmed attacks in and around a vehicle. These are practical ideas that can be applied immediately and do not require extensive training.

✔ Simple and practical concepts
✔ Easy to understand and apply
✔ Relevant for everyday situations
✔ Focus on awareness, tactics, and staying functional under pressure

Personal safety starts long before a physical confrontation. The earlier you recognize a problem, the more options you usually have.

If you'd like to learn more, join our Car Defense Seminar in Winterthur this September or check out our online training program, where we cover prevention, tactics, fighting inside a vehicle, defending around a vehicle, and a variety of realistic scenarios in greater detail.

Which of these 6 tips do you think is the most important?

A short training sequence from our Panantukan training featuring the use of the Universal Cover. 👊

For us, the Universal Cover is a universal solution for many close-range attack situations. In this example, the attacker pins against the wall with one hand on the neck while attempting to strike with the second arm.

The goal is not just to “block,” but to protect, escape, change angles, apply pressure, and immediately continue with counteractions. This is exactly how we train Panantukan — through drills, partner exercises, flow training, and realistic follow-ups under pressure.

For me, this is what makes Panantukan so interesting:
Not isolated techniques, but connected movements that work dynamically in close range.

These are also the kinds of concepts we teach in our online training, where members can work on drills, combinations, applications, and complete training systems step by step. 👊

PANANTUKAN – REBOUND STRIKE SERIES

Panantukan is a versatile martial art that combines boxing, elbows, trapping, manipulations, destructions, and weapon-based movement concepts.

With these posts, we want to give people a deeper look into how functional and dynamic Panantukan really is and the concepts behind it.

In this variation, the rebound movement is not only used for striking.

After the upward elbow, the returning motion can be used to:
manipulate
clear
disrupt
control

Instead of resetting after impact, the movement keeps working continuously.
This creates pressure, openings, and fast transitions in close range.

A concept rarely trained in many systems, but highly effective in Panantukan and infight situations.

Want to train Panantukan with us?
Our new SAMI-X App is now available with online training, drills, workouts, tutorials, and guided sessions.
You can also join our Panantukan seminars this autumn.

Explosiveness is not just for competition.
It’s a fundamental part of martial arts.

Every strike, every reaction, every movement
depends on how fast you can generate force.

The problem:
Most martial artists train techniques…
but neglect the ability to apply them explosively.

And that’s where the difference is.

Not in the technique itself.
But in how fast and decisive you execute it.

Explosiveness shows up everywhere:
→ striking
→ defending
→ countering
→ clinch and control
If you are late, you are already behind.

That’s why explosive training is not optional.
It’s essential.
Not extreme.
But structured and consistent.

Train it. Apply it. Improve it.

If you want to develop this properly,
start integrating it into your training.

This flow drill connects individual techniques into a continuous movement.

Backhand Strike – Backhand Strike – Forward Elbow – Horizontal Elbow.

You’ve already seen these techniques in previous videos.
Now it’s about linking them together and training them in a smooth flow.

That’s exactly what this drill is for:

✔️ connect movements in a natural way
✔️ improve timing and coordination
✔️ develop a better feel for close range
✔️ build control under movement

The goal is not speed –
the goal is understanding, control, and clean ex*****on.

Train it step by step –
then increase the flow.

If you want to train Panantukan in a structured and focused way, you can also do so on our online platform.

👉 Train to understand – not just to repeat.

Throwback to a camp in the Czech Republic more than 12 years ago.
This clip shows a Panantukan application from that time. A versatile martial art with punches, elbows, knees, kicks, trapping, manipulations, and smooth transitions through all ranges.
Great memories. Respect to everyone who was part of it.
