Once per year, we have the pleasure of running RYA Instructor courses - often with Mike Hart, who’s a regular on the SB20 circuit.

This June, we have a RYA Senior Instructor course, RYA Powerboat Instructor course, and RYA Dinghy Instructor course running, with a variety of candidates from both DOSC and other centres within the GCC (and further afield!). Here Mike gives us a rundown on what’s happening over the next couple of weeks, and the role of the RYA.

The H-Cups have begun, and of course we still have our Wednesday Night Pursuit Race every week, and DF95 Social Racing on Thursdays!

Joe is back tonight for the 2nd Offshore Quiz .ae , sushi is on the menu tomorrow, and you can still nominate your friends and family for our summer membership.

We have also have some space left in the Training Centre, if you’re looking for last minute qualifications - private lessons also available.

As the kids courses come to a close for the season, we need to shout out one of the teams that makes a huge difference to the learning of our students: the Assistant Instructors!

The AI team has grown substantially this season under the guidance of Suria, our Sailing Supervisor. They have been assisting with all of our dinghy programs, from school Extra Curricular Activities to our regular Youth Development Weeks, ensuring that the sessions run as smoothly as possible by pre-rigging boats, helping launch, and jumping into dinghies to give 1:1 coaching.

Suria commented: “It’s been lovely seeing so many teenagers keen to support the growth of the younger sailors, and we really appreciate their help in coaching the kids.”

Huge thank you to the fantastic work from all the team this season; have a great summer and we’ll see you back in September!
