Skiing is a tough sport with only fractions of seconds splitting the winners from the rest of the field and weeks of training culminating in 40 to 70 second timed runs!

💥⛷ ATTENTION ALL UK SKIERS ⛷💥

The last major weekend of Barts seeded races takes place the weekend of Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th November in Braehead, Glasgow and supported by the Winter Sports Foundation

Gordon Skiers Racing Indoor Cup and Glasgow Ski Racing Challenge Cup will provide a full weekend of racing for U10/ U12 PLUS iBarts seeded U14 through to Masters. There are some great prizes on offer and the promise of fun and competitive racing for athletes whilst the parents can socialise and go shopping! 😜👍 (Plenty of other activities as well at Intu Braehead).

Entries are already in from numerous racers in Scotland with many clubs attending and supporting their athletes at this weekend event. We would really love to see more racers travelling from South of the border to come and race and add to the weekend. Come and spend a family weekend in Glasgow why dont you?!

What a superb Snowsport Scotland FIS camp in South Africa with the team, Mark Vinter and the other teams that that all worked together for a memorable training and set of races! Our hosts “Tiffindell resort” were so friendly and welcoming.

Happy to have skied as I did with negligible on snow training (since April) and the not so small matter of 5 Highers I had to sit through May! Working on fitness ahead of Stelvio in a few months and hopefully some focussed GS training with the team.

Best of luck to my old team mates and adversaries in South America and Australia / New Zealand who will compete there in the other Southern Hemisphere races especially those I caught up with at Team Evolution Racing, The British Ski Academy and Ambition Racing. I’m off home for some rest, driving lessons and indoors races ahead of final school year starting!

In summary;

✅ 3 x 3rd place finishes
✅ 2 x fastest runs
✅ 1 x Marker bindings release 🙄🤦‍♂️ First and hopefully the last!
✅ Sub 100 FIS points in Slalom achieved

Ski racing really gives you so many opportunities to see different places you can stick a piste on! Stunningly baron here in Tiffendel South Africa ready for FIS Slalom racing from Wednesday!

Couldn’t find Nessie but did find Loch Ness today!

2018/19 Ski season ends.

Finished with a FIS points score on home piste GS at Courchevel. Bib 83 out of 83 with bib 82 on 105 points better than me - sums up the struggles in first year FIS pretty well.

Although numerous race cancellations, limited training (with school commitments) and a very disappointing introduction to race quotas in Bormio meaning I couldn’t start, I did manage to crack my Test Technique on first run of asking. All in all then not a bad first rookie season.

Exam Highers, rest and seeing what develops from a great new opportunity that has arisen for me now. Watch this space! 👀
