Wasn’t able to enter Prerelease 3 due to spaces so went to Abu Dhabi’s Prerelease the next day and swept that instead 4 wins 0 losses. This time I cut down to a risky two Water Energy for Articuno, with Iono’s Kilowattrel for late game energy requirements via Levincia. I also wanted to bump any stadiums from Hop decks (Postwick).
Was very tempted to run Klawf to help set up, but went with Kilowattrel as I felt I may need a last gasp attacker.
Mimikyu ex and a regular Iono’s Bellibolt ex from the prizes but no Clefairy SIR 😢

Prerelease 2 and I was able to snag the Ribombee for the switch Accelgor to Pearl Pokemon strategy, however there was a player that had pulled all three Hop’s Zacian ex in their bundle so Magmortar / Reshiram ex was a must. The flip for Burn in the final was critical for the OHKO KO and once that happened Hop’s Cramorant is not useful.
Articuno was great for a donk on an opposing Volcanion ex T2 during one round.
Cutting Luminous Energy, one Iris’s Fighting Spirit and a TM Evolution allows you to play the Ribombee line too.
4 wins no losses, won the Prerelease 🏆

Catching up with the decks from the Journey Together prerelease. This was Prerelease 1, going 3 wins 1 loss. A mishap vs a Hop’s Zacian ex deck where I attached to an attacking Accelgor and had to switch to a benched damaged Pokemon that would be KO’ed was my only loss, I think the player had a far stronger start anyway. I learned late on how effective Boomerang combos to stream Darmanitan attacks. Pulled Blaziken ex but had no way of getting it into play. Butterfree was win more. Oricorio wasn’t necessary, just security for Call for Family. Drampa’s Ram was nice to sponge a hit or two.
I had a 1/1 Volcarona and a Black Belt’s Training that could have been used to strengthen vs Zacian ex and OHKOed it. That and an extra Grass Energy could have been the swaps for Butterfree and Oricorio.
FA Salamence ex and N’s Reshiram Illustration Rare were in the prize packs. 0/0 Clefairy SIR.

Hitting the Abu Dhabi prereleases!

Went 3/1 in the Journey Together Dubai Prerelease to make Top 8! Massively enjoyable prerelease experienced by all. Set made for really tense games. Used N’s Darmanitan/Accelgor/Lillie’s Ribombee. Li’s Cutiefly with Pearl was the MVP! And pulled a baby Clefairy from prizes 🎀

T8 Dubai Cup.

Took Snorlax to a T8 of the Dubai cup yesterday, lost to Ceruledge that went on to win the cup. 3/0/2 in Swiss. T8 didn’t finish G1 after an hour but with three cards left he had a 2nd Jamming Tower that would enable him to get my Mimikyus with his Radiant Greninja.

Managed to ID vs the Minior Miraidon, would have had a good chance as he removed Prime Catcher and had no Turo.
WW vs United Wings
ID Miraidon with Minior
WW vs Roaring Moon
ID Dragapult
WW Dragapult Charizard
T8 L Ceruledge

Only change I’d make is Team Yell Grunt, Iono and maybe Pot Helmet if I wanted to really tech for the Ceruledge which was the only one in the room apart from JRs/SRs (won both those fields too), with three Temples.

The Ceruledge had three Jet, one Turo and a Pal Pad.
With two Jamming Tower.
This list can also run with one Artazon Three Temple.
So maybe TYG which I never got to use for one Temple, and Pot Helmet for the second Temple to make it a stable 2/2 Artazon Temple.

I didn’t tech for the Ceruledge as it was the only one there out of 26 players and lost to the Miraidon Minior in Swiss but it won in the finals against it.

If you have faith in drawing into the Mist, the list can also have - Colress + Morty’s Conviction.

If you do that, you have to play two Artazon. Two Artazon made for smooth starts. If putting two Temple you get what I feel is the right balance.

I’ll probably pop those changes in before moving the deck to my Retro collection for rotation 😔🫡

Summer had a chance to switch to Lugia but stuck with Dragapult and came 2nd against Ceruledge, she faced two in a row and then Zard) 😔 final bow before she takes a break for GCSEs.
